Day 17 - Louisiana To Hannibal MO

38 miles

70 and cloudy with chances of rain

We awoke to severe rain showers thunder and lightning. It's a short day. Checking weather we are happy for our late start. There was a shuttle to breakfast held at a small bakery/wine shop set in the Eagles Nest Inn, table linens set nicely and breakfast plated with care. There was time to relax as the storm headed away before we mounted our bikes. It turned out to be a perfect riding day. The skies cleared as we traveled the hilly countryside and took a small ride on Hwy 61 into Hannibal. Hannibal, home of Mark Twain, and his cast in his tales of life on the Mississippi. There are museums and replicas of his home and neighborhood to tour, a river walk and great restaurants to enjoy. And with clear blue skies, we did.
